Package: grep-dctrl Version: 2.9.3 Severity: wishlist Hello,
after a discussion on #debtags-devel it came out that the compressed syntax for the Tag: field used by apt makes it hard to do tag-based filtering with grep-dctrl. A way to work around that is to use 'debtags dumpavail' to initiate the data stream: it has 3 advantages: - It does not use compressed Tag: fields - It uses the merged tag data as defined in /etc/debtags/sources.list (and therefore it allows features like using unstable tag data from alioth, or merge ratings from iterating.org) - It can take an optional tag expression like: 'game::* && !role::app-data' So the idea is that it would be nice to have a grep-tags or grep-debtags alias for grep-dctrl that gets data from debtags aptavail, and which maybe has an extra option (say, "--tagfilter") that passes its argument directly as a parameter to debtags aptavail.
