#422563: nautilus: Nautilus "cuts off" file names in list view,
which was filed against the nautilus package.
It has been closed by Josselin Mouette <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
Their explanation is attached below. If this explanation is
unsatisfactory and you have not received a better one in a separate
message then please contact Josselin Mouette <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> by replying
to this email.
By closing this report, does that mean that the bug will be taken care
of in the future. By what I understand from the explanation you
provided, this bug appeared in version 2.18.1-1 but I'm sure I'm running
2.18.1-2 (see command below) and I know the file names are still cut off
on this system:
[08:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~]$ dpkg -l nautilus
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err:

||/ Name Version Description

ii nautilus 2.18.1-2 file manager and graphical shell for GNOME

I hope you didn't close this report because you could not reach my
e-mail but I don't think you should have any problems because it is a
POP account and I get e-mail even when my system is down. Please inform
me of what will happen. Thank you.

Hi. I have a folder with really long names and Nautilus tends to not
display each file name completely. Some time before (I think in 2.16)
the file names were completely shown and I'm accustomed to the old
behaviour. Right now even regular file names in my home directory are
not fully displayed. Is this intentional? I think that if file names
are going to be cut off, there should at least be a tooltip that comes
up showing the entire file name when mouse "hovers" over file name (sort
of what happens in iceape/iceweasel when hovering over bookmark names
which are not fully displayed). I hope this is not impossible. Thanks.
Are you sure you tried with 2.18.1-2 ? This was a bug in 2.18.1-1 which
should have been fixed now.
