Package: gpsd Version: 2.13-1 Severity: normal
I use a Garmin eTrex Venture (firmware 2.70, serial data format set to: NEMA In/NEMA Out, 4800 baud fixed) with gpsd. After connecting the GPS to to the serial port I start gpsd as follows: gpsd -p /dev/ttyS0 -T n -n -D2 Out of 40 consecutive connection attempts, 14 failed with gpsd not catching the connection at 4800baud. gpsd then tries the other baud rates until it terminates. I had up to three connection attempts fail in a row. When the connection is up and running, gpsd reports unknown data. I doesn't seem to affect xgps, which displays all it should. The following is one of the repeating blocks that gpsd outputs to the command line when running in above debug mode: gpsd: <= GPS: $GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,070405,1.3,E,N*3C gpsd: <= GPS: $GPRMB,V,,,,,,,,,,,,A,N*13 gpsd: <= GPS: $GPGGA,,,,,,0,00,,,M,,M,,*66 gpsd: <= GPS: $GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*1E gpsd: <= GPS: $GPGSV,3,1,10,01,25,148,39,03,41,164,38,11,46,286,00,14,41,100,00*7A gpsd: <= GPS: $GPGSV,3,2,10,15,15,088,00,18,05,049,00,19,70,184,00,20,10,228,00*71 gpsd: <= GPS: $GPGSV,3,3,10,22,34,053,00,28,17,317,00*70 gpsd: <= GPS: $GPGLL,,,,,,V,N*64 gpsd: <= GPS: $GPBOD,,T,,M,,*47 gpsd: unknown sentence: "$GPBOD,,T,,M,,*47" gpsd: <= GPS: $PGRME,,M,,M,,M*00 gpsd: unknown exception: "$PGRME,,M,,M,,M*00" gpsd: <= GPS: $PGRMZ,,f,1*29 gpsd: unknown exception: "$PGRMZ,,f,1*29" gpsd: <= GPS: $PGRMM,WGS 84*06 gpsd: unknown exception: "$PGRMM,WGS 84*06" gpsd: <= GPS: $GPRTE,1,1,c,*37 gpsd: unknown sentence: "$GPRTE,1,1,c,*37" -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-andi-1 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages gpsd depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- debconf information: * gpsd/start_daemon: false * gpsd/device: /dev/ttyS0 gpsd/daemon_options: gpsd/device_needed: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
