After a fresh install of 'nscd' package, the service don't start due to syntax error in configuration file '/etc/nscd.conf'. There is a tabulation at the begin of the lines (63 and 64) : # hosts caching is broken with gethostby* calls, hence is now disabled # per default. See /usr/share/doc/nscd/NEWS.Debian. After suppression of this tabulations and execution of the command : $ apt-get install --reinstall nscd the package install properly, and the service start fine.
