I have chosen a manual partitioning. Partman did NOT display my current partitions. Instead it offered to create a new partition table. I suspect partman is unable to create a logical partition in the free space (in that particular situation). However, I suggest handling the situation by an error message instead of offering to create an new partition table. An error message might say something like: strange partitioning found. Cannot work on that. Of course, I would like dearest that partman is able, to create logical partitions in that situation.
