Note that just ignoring the keymap for 2.6 kernels would result in problems for people who have localized (e.g. French or German) keyboards. It should only be ignored if the current keymap is a Sun type keymap (if that can be detected). Maybe the best option would be to allow the user to install separate keymaps for 2.4 and 2.6, but that is probably quite a lot of work. Additional note AFAICT this same problem goes for USB-MAC keymaps and other arch-specific keymaps as well, although the breakage is especially severe in the case of Sun type keymaps.
