Package: amavisd-new
Version: 1:2.4.2-6.1

8bit encoded emails using a charset of ISO-8859-1 have their body converted to UTF-8 by Amavisd-new.

The resulting mail delivered to the recipient still has a header announcing the ISO-8859-1 charset, but the body has really been converted to UTF-8. This altered mail is then hard to read in any client email progra, having all accented characters wrong.

I tested it with Spamassassin disabled, to make sure it is really an Amavis problem. I also tried adding LANG=C to the startup script, but it didn't change anything. The output of debug:

Trying to run amavisd-new in debug mode...
