Hi,
I'm following up on some old Debian bugs. The behaviour you described in
the bug report is because the gnome-dictionary simply uses dict.org. The
entry for Gneiss simply says,
Gneiss \Gneiss\ (n[imac]s), n. [G.] (Geol.)
I don't think there's a way to go from this to proper phonetics?
