Package: Other Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
I'm currently running Sarge. Upon John Hasler's recommendation, I was trying to upgrade to Etch. In preparation for this, I did an apt-get update, followed by an apt-get upgrade, with my sources.list pointing to a sarge repository. After that successfully completed, I changed sources.list to point to an etch repository, did an apt-get update, followed by an apt-get dist-upgrade. The dist-upgrade failed with the following: E: This installation run will require temporarily removing the essential package e2fsprogs due to a Conflicts/Pre-Depends loop. This is often bad, but if you really want to do it, activate the APT::Force-LoopBreak option. E: Internal Error, Could not early remove e2fsprogs At the time I first encountered this error, I was running a 2.2 kernel. I have since upgraded to a 2.6 kernel. I was trying to force an e2fsprogs install, and got a notification of libc (I think?) requiring a 2.6 kernel, and the e2fsprogs install aborted. I'm about to try to upgrade to etch again. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-3-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
