I'm not convinced #348905 is actually resolved.
I agree with downgrading it from important to minor or so, since I never
was really annoyed by it taking too long to display the password prompt
anymore. But that might be due to me having a much faster machine by
now...

xscreensaver was really snappy; move the mouse and you immedeately got
the password prompt, but when I lock the screen with gnome-screensaver,
it definitely takes more than one second to show the prompt after moving
the mouse. And when pressing the cancel button, it takes 
4-5 seconds to react with NO visual feedback such as the greying out or
so to show that it has noticed the click.
