After uninstalling mozilla-tabextensions I wondered why the old .mozilla was no longer usable (mozilla said upon start, that the default profile is already used). So I had to save bookmarks from the old profile and let the profile be recreated. After that, the bogus tab didn't occur any more. Probably you would like to redirect this bug to mozilla-tabextensions package.
