Well, it happens because en is the default dictionary. You set that from the 
preferences dialog.
Actually en will be used if you choose nothing.

That error message "surprisingly" comes from libaspell. I'm not really sure why 
it doesn't get
translated. I'll dig around and see but I appreciate any tips!
