I apologise for taking so long to answer this report. My understanding is that the "factory" templates can be used as a starting point for a Maypole application's templates, but are meant to be copied and customised rather than used by reference. I originally packaged Maypole as a dependency of Memories and that certainly does not require the "factory" templates. Therefore I believe I should include both the "factory" and "beer" templates in /usr/share/doc/ex and not /usr/lib.
