If I use any form of lavc audio codec I get an resultant avi file that has out of sync and not 'indexed' sound. By this I mean when I jump forward through the video with the right arrow key in mplayer, the sound continually starts again. In totem, it plays without sound. Avidemux can play the file properly, and if the file is edited and saved with avidemux, then mplayer works again. I am converting transport stream mpeg files from my dvb card. mencoder -oac lavc -ovc lavc -o out.avi in.ts I have tried all values of acodec=<value> all suffer the same problem. My work around is to use mp3lame, as the -oac option.
