Hi Matt,
it could be possible that I can give some kind of update here. At least
I hope it is this bug
and not something new.
I've got a sarge installation on a Proliant DL360G4, nothing unusual:
hostname-01:/etc# uname -a
Linux hostname-01 2.6.8-3-686 #1 Tue Dec 5 21:26:38 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
hostname-01:/etc# dpkg -l kernel-image-2.6.8-3-686 cpqarrayd
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err:
uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version Description
+++-====================-====================-=========================
ii kernel-image-2.6.8-3 2.6.8-16sarge6 Linux kernel image for
version 2.6.8 on PPro/Celeron/PII
ii cpqarrayd 2.0-3 monitoring tool for HP
(Compaq) SmartArray controllers
I ran into the same problem today (cpqarrayd segfaulting) so I've read
the "strace -f" output
and found out that cpqarrayd dies after unsucessfully trying to resolve
the hostname from
/etc/hostname via DNS. Correcting this file and issuing "hostname $(cat
/etc/hostname)"
solved this.
have fun
