python-dbus is also necessary for AIM links to work (like 
aim:goim?screenname=...), and probably some other forms of IM URI schemes.

The problem that occurs if python-dbus is not installed is:
$ gaim-url-handler aim:goim?screenname=...
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/gaim-url-handler", line 3, in ?
    import dbus
ImportError: No module named dbus
