Package: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad Version: 0.10.4-0.1 Severity: wishlist
As of version 0.10.4, upstream authors of Jack and GStreamer have started including a jacksink with gst-plugins-bad. Could you please enable it in the Debian build? This plugin is useful for people doing professional audio production on Linux, since gstreamer is a defacto standard for desktop audio and multimedia, while JACK is the standard for Linux's growing number of professional and semi-pro audio production tools. Use case: I like to use Quod Libet and other gstreamer-enabled players to listen to my large library of other people's music, but my audio interfaces are controlled by JACK while I am using audio production tools like Ardour and Jamin. It is currently not possible for me to be recording a guitar player via ardour, and simultaneously pop up Quod Libet to play back a track of my favorite guitar music to compare the guitar's recorded tone, for example. With the jacksink enabled, I can reconfigure Quod Libet to send its output through Jack and switch back and forth between my recording project and previously-recorded material easily.
