How a locale is defined, I don't know. However, a quick recursive grep on /etc and /usr pointed me in these directions: /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_DK /etc/environment /etc/default/locale However, you're correct that en_DK does not appear in /usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias.
