I'm seeing this also, though for me it is a new install rather than an
upgrade.
I tried strace'ing the script and the suspicious line is:
execve("/usr/sbin/slapcat", ["/usr/sbin/slapcat", "-f",
"/etc/ldap/slapd.conf", "-b", "dc=democracynow,dc=org", "|",
"/bin/gzip"], [/* 15 vars */]) = 0
It seems like for whatever reason, the "| /bin/gzip" is getting passed
as arguments to slapcat rather than parsed by the shell. Setting
compress=off in the task file allows the task to complete successfully,
so this is indeed the problem.
I looked quickly at the source and can't figure out what is wrong with
it. If no one else can solve the problem, I will see if I can figure it
out and provide a patch.
