Hi It seems that you now changed the init-Script to call "mpt-status -p" for testing if the RAID is "optimal". But "mpt-status -p" only says on which SCSI id the Adapter is. So you must use "mtp-status -i $ID". Please make "$ID" configureable in /etc/default/mpt-status (with default to ID 0 of course)
