I don't know if you are aware of it, but the README at
ftp://tug.ctan.org/pub/tex-archive/info/examples/ltt/README
now states:

"License is (according to the upload notice by the author):
Debian Free Software Guidelines."
I also had a short look at the book, there's nothing in it about the
examples, except for the download location (so I didn't find anything
contradicting the above).
