Hi!

I just got back from holidays and I can comment on the issues
mentioned on the bug report.

First of all, gshowtv is not an application for viewing live tv. It's
purpose is to provide information on scheduling of programmes, and to
integrate into a pvr of choice. (Mythtv, vdr, freevo at al.)

For the schedule information gshowtv uses xmltv. The usage of the
xmltv system is somewhat complicated (for average user) and to ease
the task of configuring the xmltv grabbers an xmltv druid is included.
It should be "usable". If there are problems in configuring the xmltv
system, I'd very much like to hear about the specific issues.

The loading of the tv programme schedule data is done by xmltv and it
indeed takes ages. Depending on the network connection, the region,
and on the amount of channels, it may take an hour or more. This is
why the task is performed by cron. The initial download of data when
the user starts the application can be performed via the druid and it
also takes as long time as the task run by cron.

These are all more or less issues related to the xmltv program and not
to gshowtv. However, I'd like to hear more precisely from Patrick on
what he found difficult in gshowtv and in trying out the program in
order to improve on the user experience.

Best regards,

Petri Väkeväinen
