Package: update-notifier Version: 0.42.12-2+b1 Priority: wishlist Update-notifier is unable to tell when a desktop or system restart is required by itself, as it depends on other packages telling it.
It would be nice if the features in the 'checkrestart' script (provided by 'debian-goodies') could be implemented in it so it could present when a daemon restart is needed after an upgrade. Checkrestart will actually check if a system is using deleted libraries and provide you with a list of daemons that need to be restarted. Regards Javier
