In further testing, I've been unable to get the manufacturer's own
LanSafe software, running on Windows XP SP2, to successfully talk to
that UPS over USB. So this is probably not a bug in nut. I'll leave it
at that and take that UPS into production (i.e., no more testing
opportunities for a while) using the old-style serial port interface
instead.
ok, if you moreover have a fall back solution, there is no hurry...
as a side note, when communication get stuck, the solution is
generally to reset the UPS by powering it off, waiting a bit (let's
say 10 sec. min.) and power everything back.
