Here you are trying to use root password on sympa user.
sympa then try to connect itself as root, wiyhout password in order to create
user and database.
Language::SetLang(), missing locale parameter
Database sympa defined in sympa.conf has not the right structure or is
unreachable. If you don't use any database, comment db_xxx parameters in
sympa.conf
apache: installation seems OK ...
Anyway, the base and users are created, the real conf file is good and
FastCGI module not found. Not configuring for FastCGI.
Restarting apache 1.3 web server....

Sympa start to populate the base (you should mask those messages if you
don't want to much bug report : here thing are going well.

Badaboum, we can't. Too bad.
Stefen, data_structure.version needs to be written, and not only at
upgrade time.
These problems are fixed in my tree.
