It's easy to avoid vi/vim in Debian, both in general and with reportbug.
* Use the $EDITOR or $VISUAL environment variable.
* If you're admin, you may use the Debian alternatives system.
Run "update-alternatives --config editor" as
root and select the editor of your choice.
* Run reportbug with the -e option, or set it in your reportbugrc.
There may be more ways to achieve the same effect :-)
