Sorry, but I can't reproduce this. For me all dialogs but the
preferences dialog closes when ESC was pressed.
My Esc doesn't work in:
Settings - Preferences
Settings - Repositories (why is this dialog itself called Software Properties?)
Settings - Set Internal Option
Help - Quick Introduction
Help - Icon Legend
Help - About
