I have already looked at the upstream tarball and I can at least report that there are lots of changes in the network configuration code. I haven't tested the new code, though. I did try to build from the tarball but I didn't have the right build dependencies, so I decided just to wait for the new Debian package. Whenever you have a new package ready I'd be happy to test it before you upload it.
