This has been fixed in svn and will be included in Splashy 0.2.2
"maintenance" release, which will come out shortly today.

On fresh install, splashy shows splash screen, but its progress bar
does not progress. I find this chunk in /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh may be
where the updates are skipped:

40     # Start splashy code
41     SPL_UPD=/sbin/splashy_update

          ...

I check it and find /lib/splashy directory totally missing.
Thus, the progress is never made. And manually doing
'mkdir /lib/splashy' just solves the problem.
