I've discovered that this is _not_ a gdm bug, as the environment
variable is set correctly when running gnome-terminal. The problem
exists when I use, multi-gnome-terminal.
I note that there are a number of environment variables inherited by a
gnome-terminal session that are not inherited by a multi-gnome-terminal
session; the two that matter the most to me are $DISPLAY and
$SSH_AGENT_PID.
This bug should probably be moved to the multi-gnome-terminal package.
