OK, so the debian menu file has an icon field that could easily be filled in.
But unfortunately it only accepts xpm icons, so I can't use the png that ubuntu has already offered to us for the standardised freedesktop menu. I'm not sure how excited I can get about providing a separate icon for each and every different menu system.
