I think that it's because of very non optimal prerm script. See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=394379 for a detailed description. Could you try to upgrade erlang from 11.b.1.dfsg-1 to 11.b.2-1 and not interrupt the upgrade procedure.
