Matt-

I also reported segfaults using fbpanel. Now I think
the icewm I used is incompatible with fbpanel.

The http://fbpanel.sf.net identifies this dependency:
It works with any NETWM compliant window manager (eg xfwm4, sawfish,
openbox, metacity, kde wm )

The http://www.freedesktop.org/Standards/wm-spec states:

> The Window Manager Specification is meant to unify the GNOME and KDE
> window manager hint conventions.

This table is a (possibly incomplete) list of window managers that support this specification, with details about their level of support.
*NAME* *DETAILS*
KWin (KDE) COMPLIANCE
Metacity (GNOME) COMPLIANCE
FVWM (2.5.x) ewmh.c
Openbox COMPLIANCE
Interface COMPLIANCE
Enlightenment COMPLIANCE
icewm wmmgr.h
AfterStep wmprops.h

+++++++++

Therefore, only the KWin, Metacity, Openbox, Interface and Enlightenment
window managers are now identified as supporting the specification.
These were not listed as dependancies and so I used fbpanel with the
wrong wm.

I still use icewm and do not plan to use any of the compliant window
managers so should not have tried the fbpanel.

Could you fix the dependencies to avoid similar situations in the
future.

Thanks-
