This whole debate is based on the assumption that we (or, I) want that user would automatically "upgrade" from Marillat's package to my package. But truth is : I do not see the necessity of forcing that "upgrade". I will leave the bug open because I received other emails of people noting this fact; but I add "wontfix" . But the example following that statement holds, please consider it as a example of "using epoch is useless in the long run". > The situation right now is different: there is a very large user base > for Christian's packages, yes that is true (I checked in popularity contest right before MPlayer entered in unstable) > and I feel debian should offer'em an upgrade > path, because that would just be fair. but I fail to see the fairness you see in this last argument. (moreover I explained in a private email that, for me, an "upgrade path" is a different beast ; but this is just "a matter of notation") a. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFSJMY9B/tjjP8QKQRAmTPAKCPa7qWdsay5iC6zLlIpmWflChbpQCggPCc xmRk5Tt5kDVskTK5ODbq51Y= =doWo -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
