I would personally LOVE to be able to disable the tray icon in some way short of modifying the source and rebuilding. I use docker to contain them, and there's some sort of interaction between it and gaim which causes the system tray icon to expand with width of the openbox dock by a huge amount (it goes from taking up an inch of the side of the screen to about 3 inches - I vaguely remember from long ago that this was due to gaim not explicitly setting the width, but that's probably an incorrect memory). Since I honestly don't care to use the tray icon at all, I'd like to have the option to disable it, even if it's via the use of the gaim-extendedprefs plugin (which doesn't appear to be working right now however).
