A Debian package from this stuff, including source package, is available from deb http://non-gnu.uvt.nl/debian sarge libmysql-java (If you prefer manual fetching with dget, use http://non-gnu.uvt.nl/debian/sarge/libmysql-java/pool/mysql-connector-java_5.0.4-2.dsc.) It'd be nice if a 5.0.x version could get shipped with Debian; possibly based upon the work mentioned here.
