Package: evince Version: 0.4.0-2+b2 Severity: normal Evince fails to render the PDF
http://www.ph.unimelb.edu.au/~jamesm/downloads/test-file-broken-in-evince.pdf properly. This PDF is rendered properly by Xpdf. The behaviour changes every time the file is reloaded. Very occasionally it is rendered properly but it usually has black horizontal bars on it or something similar. I see this behaviour regularly when evince has to render an image in a PDF page which itself came from a PDF. Another example, which may provide hints as to what is going on, can be seen in these two screenshots of the same page in a PDF (I just reloaded the file multiple times until I got the two very different results): http://www.ph.unimelb.edu.au/~jamesm/downloads/correct-image-in-pdf.png http://www.ph.unimelb.edu.au/~jamesm/downloads/reverse-image-in-pdf.png In the reverse-image-in-pdf screenshot the text can still be made out but it is slanted the wrong way - in fact, it looks to me like a skew to the image of some sort...maybe that will provide a clue to someone on what is going wrong in the image display code.
