Package: libglib2.0-0 Version: 2.10.3-3 Severity: normal
glib and libraries based on glib provide logging facilities with levels of severity for problems. However, they do not provide any means to filter or reduce nuisance messages at runtime. The net result is programs which use glib or its dependent libraries produce large amounts of nuisance spew which is really developer-opnly information. This spew can harm the ability to read or notice real user-intended messages produced intentionally by the program. Ideally the logging facilities in glib should be improved so that developers and users can encounter output which meets their needs without LD_PRELOAD hacks or recompiles. A short term fix which allows the complete disabling of all output of text coming from the glib logging facility would go a long way towards improving the user experience in the short term. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-2-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages libglib2.0-0 depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries Versions of packages libglib2.0-0 recommends: pn libglib2.0-data <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
