Package: irssi Version: 0.8.10-2 Severity: wishlist It would be great if irssi autoconnected to irc.debian.org channel #debian at startup. This would make it easier for newbies to get help with Debian. It would probably not be hard to implement in the default ~/.irssi/config file. Would you like me to create a patch and send it in?
If the above is not feasible, perhaps irssi could provide newbie help on how to join irc.debian.org channel #debian every time you start it. This would help people with broken machines who don't know how to use a text web browser and don't know how to use IRC's /server and /join commands. (For your reference: On first run, irssi shows as follows: 09:26 -!- Irssi: Looks like this is the first time you've run irssi. 09:26 -!- Irssi: This is just a reminder that you really should go read 09:26 -!- Irssi: startup-HOWTO if you haven't already. You can find it 09:26 -!- Irssi: and more irssi beginner info at http://irssi.org/help/ 09:26 -!- Irssi: 09:26 -!- Irssi: For the truly impatient people who don't like any automatic 09:26 -!- Irssi: window creation or closing, just type: /MANUAL-WINDOWS On second and further runs, it does not show anything. Also, irssi never joins any server at startup.) Regards, Jason -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
