I am running a generic testing box. I am not using a font server - my font paths are hard-coded in xorg.conf. I have added a few extra font paths.
Because of this bug, the only way I can use emacs at this time is by using mouse menu commands: Options -> Mule -> Set font and then Fontset -> standard: 16-dot medium as suggested by Craig Duncan. I have to do that every time I run emacs, because Craig's other suggested work-around - using the "set-frame-font" command - does not work for me. When I run M-X set-frame-font and hit tab to get a *Completions* buffer, there are 640 fonts to choose from. I admit that I have not yet tried every single one, but none of the 30 or 40 that I have tried so far works. Also, using the mouse menu "Set font" command does not completely solve the problem. Buffers with font variations, like the "Options -> Customize Emacs" buffers, still contain boxes in place of some of the fonts, so I cannot use them. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
