i would like to ask you for a help. i have recently purchased compaq xp1000 alphastation and installed debian sarge for alphas ... i'm receiving fatal errors. for example when i log in into xfree86 i receive error activating xkb configuration, probably internal server problem x server version data thexfree86 project, inc 4030001. you are using xfree software: if you report this situation as a bug please include the result of .... the result is visual the screen flickers, turning black for some time. it doesn't turn black when i have the login screen to debian. error appears after login. and also when i want to configure xfree86 -configure i recieve this error. fatal server error!!! server is already running, remove /tmp/.XD-lock and start again. when reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send the full server output, not just the last messages. please report problems ... i cannot log in onto the internet with the machine to update any patches at the moment. is there anywhere possibility you can send me a file or cd to fix this bug, please? i'm new to linux installation and still finding a way how to use linux. thank you for your time, regards, peter.
