In the second before the screen goes blank upon reboot(8), I see some
message (not logged, as all that has already stopped) about this line
$ sed 250!d /lib/lsb/init-functions
RED=`$TPUT setaf 1`
and something about not appropriate device or something.
Maybe use test -t first?
