As noted in my last email, I generally don't think that the progress bar issue is easy to solve (and I don't want to just globally suppress the bars), so I'm splitting this bug in two and marking the progress-bar one wontfix. A fix for the other half is in the tree and will be in the next release. I may try to get another release out next weekend if I have time, but I assume that the release managers will freeze aptitude soon if they haven't already.
If you have any constructive suggestions of ways to improve the progress display without disabling it altogether, please post them to the sister bug (whose number I don't know yet, but it should be up in a few minutes). Daniel
