Followup-For: Bug #299270

Hash: SHA1
after looking in the strace, i saw lots of stuff related to ldap (some
user and group account info is stored in ldap on my systems). so, i
thought to myself "what if i disable ldap?".
disabling ldap in nsswitch.conf makes the problem go away. now,
the strange part, is that if i re-enable ldap for passwd but not
group, the server starts just fine. the only time it doesn't
start is when group is configured to use ldap (though mysql
is a locally defined group).
since this is only going to affect a select group of users (those
who use ldap), i'm going to lower the severity of my bug from grave
to important.
