Package: xxdiff Version: 1:3.0.2-4 Severity: normal
By default xxdiff chooses an utterly HUGE font for the text diff window. In the previous version I had installed, 2.9.2, I was able to tune this by specifying the font I preferred my ~/.xxdiffrc file, like this: FontText: "-b&h-lucidatypewriter-medium-r-normal-sans-12-*-100-100-m-*-iso8859-1" After "upgrading" to the currrent version, 3.0.2, xxdiff no longer uses the font specified. It appears to always use some built-in font name and size instead. The font is very pretty, but it is not the one I wanted. The same goes for the --textfont command-line option. It completely ignores anything I put here or in the FontText in the .xxdiffrc. I mean completely. I can put completely bogus values and they are ignored: xxdiff --textfont "xxdiff ignores this" /etc/group /etc/group displays no errors and displays the diff using its default HUGE font, despite the fact that "xxdiff ignores this" is not a valid XLFD font spec as required. The xxdiff documentation for 3.0.2 still says that you can specify FontText in your .xxdiffrc to affect the font in the diff window, or specify --textfont on the command-line, but neither works anymore. Reverting to 2.9.2 (with all other packages the same) restores the desired behavior. I noticed there are newer versions of xxdiff available, a 3.0.4 and a 3.1 version. Perhaps one of them restores xxdiff's ability to display the text diff font correctly. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.5-1-686-smp Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages xxdiff depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6 GCC support library ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.3-8 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
