I am talking with upstream to see how they'd like to handle that, and I'll try not to diverge too much from the 0.8 branch for now. Lee, thanks for your followup. It seems this is a more than minor issue indeed, but I can only outline that iPod support in the 0.8 series of Rhythmbox is experimental. Stephen, Lee, I've brought the issue upstream at: <http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170057> You might want to subscribe to the upstream discussion from there. Please note that this issue isn't present at all in the 0.9 series of Rhythmbox, which uses HAL and GnomeVFS to check all mounted volumes.
