Thats not the way I grok the strace log:
4266 unlink("/var/run/amavis/amavisd.pid" <unfinished ...>
12868 <... rt_sigaction resumed> {SIG_DFL}, 8) = 0
20650 rt_sigaction(SIGCHLD, {SIG_DFL}, <unfinished ...>
4266 <... unlink resumed> ) = 0
So it would appear that 4266 is deleting the PID file before it exits.
However I am getting lost in a maze of PIDs, will continue
investigating later.
