Package: evms-gui Version: 2.5.5-16 Severity: normal In evmsgui, I right-click on a region and choose "Move Mapping". The Move Mapping dialog appears with a default target PV of sda3, and starting PE of 0. That's not what I want, so I change the PV to md/md1. Problem: the starting PE stays at 0, but PE 0 is not available on md/md1. The first available PE on md/md1 is 13532.
I click on Move Mapping to accept my choice, and get "the operation completed successfully." But if the operation were carried out as described, it would result in the new mapping overwriting an existing mapping on md/md1. I fully expect (hope) that the EVMS engine would not permit that operation, but even so I'm afraid to try, so I've never tried to commit it-- at this point I always quit without saving. If the operation is really as the dialog shows it, then it seems that evmsgui should complain and not accept it. Maybe what's happening is that the new target PE is in fact being set correctly, but just isn't being updated in the dialog. In evmsn, when I change the PV to md/md1, the displayed starting PE changes to the first available one (13532), as desired. I left the severity of this bug as "normal", because it's not clear (I haven't dared to try to find out) whether EVMS would ever really permit me to carry out the bad operation. If it did, the severity should be "grave".
