Hm, I cannot reproduce it. On a dual core AMD64 machine running
2.6.17.11 and Debian unstable:
# taskset -p 1 1
pid 1's current affinity mask: 3
pid 1's new affinity mask: 1
Also, only security bugs can be fixed in sarge. Please try to reproduce
the bug in testing or unstable.
