Worse than that, on dist-upgrade, apt-get wants to remove the 'sendmail' package and associated dependencies.

E.g. on my mail server:

# apt-get -u dist-upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Calculating Upgrade... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  sendmail spamass-milter
The following packages have been kept back:
  sendmail-bin
The following packages will be upgraded:
  libmilter-dev libmilter0 libmysqlclient12 mysql-client mysql-common
mysql-server rmail sendmail-base sendmail-cf sendmail-doc sensible- mda
  spamassassin spamc
13 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/7788kB of archives.
After unpacking 553kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] n
Abort.

It might break servers with unsuspecting (or tired) admins (it got me), or with automatic upgrades.
